“Friends of the School” Meeting on Sunday June 13th 2010
Today we had a very enlivening meeting with 20 passionate parents and 4 staff members.
This was the first of hopefully many meetings with the “Friends of the School”.
We discussed many topics in relation to the big picture and many topics of a more ‘day to day’ focus.
We decided that communication was to be a priority. Updating the website and using it as a tool for communication.
We had an initial brainstorm on streamlining the bus run and heard how initially parents were concerned about the length of time on the bus and that now they consider the time well spent and to be part of their child’s overall education at Hare Krishna School. On the buses the children have a set routine for chanting verses, singing songs and sharing stories about Krishna consciousness. So they have turned a potentially, long boring trip into an educational experience. A lot of credit goes to Captain Neville for this programme, and the kids, of course.
We also discussed the possibility of evolving into a secondary school and lots of ideas around marketing the school and increasing awareness of who we are and what we have to offer.
I will be summarising the notes in detail and publishing them on the parents’ blog page.
Thanks to all for your participation and contributions. Look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting.
Your servant,
Prana dasa
